The Giant Crossbow is one of Leonardo’s most dramatic weapon concepts, famously illustrated with a figure perched on top reloading it.

Unlike smaller handheld crossbows that launched spears, this enormous machine was designed to fire heavy stone balls capable of smashing through walls or toppling armoured soldiers.

Like many of Leonardo’s inventions, there is no record that it was ever built, and some historians believe the impressive scale of the drawing was intended to win favour with powerful Dukes seeking a military engineer.

This easy to assemble mini Giant Crossbow captures the spirit of the original and uses elastic powered mechanics to launch a small projectile between 5 and 10 feet.
